My Students
My students are a culturally and financially diverse group. No matter their background, they are all expected to achieve at the highest level possible. Many students need extra support and time, but they are determined to meet their educational goals.
It is my deepest desire to see each of my students succeed.
Most of my students start the year eager to start mastering grade level skills, but some are a little apprehensive. Whether it is because they are behind, don’t have the resources, or maybe just haven’t had someone show them how exciting learning can be, these are the children that fuel my teaching. I strive every day to help every student understand that they are worth the time and effort it takes to master new skills and that learning can be fun!
My Project
My students are science crazed! Last year I was able to lure even my most non-scientific student over to the science side. Seriously, these kiddos will read absolutely anything that has to do with science.
These books support the 5th grade Next Generation Science Standards.
NGSS is all about taking kids deeper into science, not just letting them understand a few surface level standards. I want my kiddos asking questions and then seeking out answers. I want them to see a variety of scientists completing their work, and the books on this list do just that. These students will understand the world around them whether or not they pursue a career in science.”
