At Big Box Storage, we believe that being part of a community means showing up for the causes that matter most to the people who live there. That’s why we’re proud to announce a $500 donation to Doors of Change, a San Diego County nonprofit dedicated to helping unhoused youth build stable, independent futures, in support of their upcoming Concert of Hope fundraiser. This donation is part of our ongoing community giving efforts across the region.
Why We’re Getting Involved
Giving back isn’t just something we do – it’s part of who we are. Supporting organizations like Doors of Change reflects our belief that every business has a role to play in strengthening the neighborhoods it serves. A stable place to call home is something most of us take for granted, and it’s exactly what Doors of Change works to provide for young people who need it most.
Since 2001, Doors of Change has offered practical, on-the-ground support – housing assistance, job training, mentorship, and community – helping youth break the cycle of homelessness and build a foundation for their future. It’s the kind of work that creates lasting, meaningful change, and it’s exactly the kind of cause we want to stand behind.
When we learned about the Concert of Hope and the direct impact it has on funding these programs, the decision to contribute was an easy one. We wanted our donation to go toward something with a track record of real results, and Doors of Change has spent nearly a quarter-century proving what’s possible when a community rallies around its most vulnerable young people.
Where the Donation Is Going
Our $500 contribution will help support Doors of Change’s ongoing programs and services, funding the resources that give unhoused youth the tools and stability they need to move forward. Every dollar raised through the Concert of Hope goes toward direct, tangible impact – helping cover housing assistance, job readiness training, mentorship programs, and the everyday support services that make a lasting difference in a young person’s life.
Fundraisers like the Concert of Hope are often the backbone of a nonprofit’s ability to keep these programs running year-round. By contributing now, ahead of the event, we hope to help build momentum and encourage others in the community to do the same.

About the Concert of Hope
The Concert of Hope is Doors of Change’s signature annual fundraising event, bringing the community together for an evening of music and celebration – all in support of a cause that changes lives. This year’s event takes place on September 26, 2026, at the California Center for the Arts in Escondido, and will feature a live tribute performance to Tom Petty, a night full of energy, nostalgia, and heart.
Beyond the music, the event serves as a powerful reminder of what’s possible when a community comes together. Last year’s Concert of Hope raised more than $358,000 to directly support Doors of Change’s mission – funds that go straight back into programs helping young people find stability, safety, and a path forward.
It’s an event we’re proud to support, not just for the music, but for what it represents: a community stepping up for its own.
The Bigger Picture
Homelessness among young people often goes unseen. Unlike more visible forms of homelessness, unhoused youth frequently move between temporary situations – couch surfing, staying in cars, or relying on friends – making the problem easy to overlook and hard to measure. Organizations like Doors of Change exist to close that gap, meeting young people where they are and giving them the resources to build something more permanent.
That work requires sustained community support, not just one-time gestures. It’s why events like the Concert of Hope matter so much: they create a recurring, reliable source of funding that lets Doors of Change plan for the long term rather than scrambling year to year. Our donation is a small part of that larger effort, but we believe small contributions add up when enough people and businesses choose to participate.
We also see this as an opportunity to set an example, and it’s one of the many reasons customers choose us as their storage provider. Businesses of every size have the ability to support causes in their community, whether through a financial donation, volunteer hours, or simply helping spread awareness. We hope other local businesses will consider doing the same, whether for Doors of Change or another organization doing meaningful work close to home.
